Your library is stored in a single JSON file on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, ever.

The app does not phone home, does not count launches, does not track usage. There are no analytics of any kind.

The only network request the app ever makes is querying the public Jikan API when you search for a title. No other outbound connections.

Why we built it this way

For some reason, a lot of anime tracking apps ask you to make an account before you can do anything at all. They sync your watchlist to their servers, show you ads, and have an uncomfortable level of access to your data. That has been our experience too.

Nipah! Library was made, mainly, for that reason. Your collection belongs to you, and only to you. It lives on your computer, as a plain text file you can read, copy, or back up yourself.

We believe in privacy, and that software should serve its users. If that's you as well — welcome to the library.

Create a folder
Create a dedicated folder anywhere on your computer and place the exe inside it. The app saves your collection as a nipah_library.json file in that same folder.

Run it
Double-click the exe. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning — click More info → Run anyway. Completely normal for unsigned indie apps.

Add your first entry
Pick a category from the sidebar, click + Add Entry, search for a title and let Jikan autofill the details, then hit ✓ Done. That's it.

Maybe you're on mobile, or maybe you'd just rather not install a stranger's app — both are completely valid. The full app runs right in your browser, no download needed. Your collection saves automatically and persists across sessions. ⚠ Clearing your browser cache will erase your web collection — use the backup button in the sidebar to keep a safe copy.
